Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Event

"Faith is taking the first step, even when you don't see the whole staircase"

- Martin Luther King Jr.

On December 16, 2020, Music Changing Lives' Program Director, Jessica Bruny, hosted the organizations' annual Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute Event.

Ms. Bruny states, “Martin Luther King Jr.’s goal of uniting individuals of all races, backgrounds, and economic status is a vision that I believe Music Changing Lives is truly enacting. We do not discriminate, we are trying to help all and welcome all. By embracing diversity, we have flourished with the creativity in our organization and the impact we are making in the community. Martin Luther King Jr.’s passion for education is another value we work towards, especially as we focus on lowering dropout rates in our nearby schools. Our programs provide parents with confidence that their students have a safe space afterschool, and I am happy we are able to give parents that peace of mind.”

During the event, like-minded individuals came together to discuss their work in the community and the change they would like to see. The night ended with participants writing a letter to themselves about the positive impact they hope to have on others for the next decade. Candles were also lit to commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the passion that Music Changing Lives has toward following his vision to enact positive change throughout the community.

We would like to thank all those who attended the event, including the T-Mobile Diversity and Inclusion team, Redlands Parks and Recreation, and our other local leaders and community members.
